Critiques CD: Delorean | Subiza

At times, it isn’t so much about unravelling an album’s many layers after repeated listens, but simply enjoying the heady trip and unaffected beauty of catchy harmonies and breezy beats. Such is the case with Barcelonian four-piece Delorean, who follow up their much lauded 2009 EP Ayrton Senna with the full-length Subiza. Album opener “Stay Close” is a slow-building percussive jam that captures the infectious ethos of summer, and glistening Balearic anthem “Real Love” is unrestrained cheesy synth bliss. Not groundbreaking by any means, but this joyous summer romp deserves space in your beach bag along with straw hats and SPF 30. July 13th at Belmont.
