Ratatat: Big Guns and Guitars

The Brooklyn based Ratatat chose Montreal to launch their tour in support of LP4. That’s not surprising, considering how many fervent fans this city has of their everything-and-the-kitchen-sink psychedelic, globalist pop rock.

But their main appeal is that they’re as funky as a rock god’s ass crack – particularly live, where they beef up the hardness and some of the navel-gazing subtleties of their records fall by the wayside in favour of letting loose their (and your) inner party animal.It remains to be seen how Ratatat will integrate the orchestral elements of LP4 into their ass kicking live show, which pushes the party line more than the esoteric one, or if they’ll just rush headlong into full party mode.
