Sisterworld is heavy, deep and dramatic, and arguably the band’s most subtle and accomplished album to date. It assaults you, then picks you up and cradles you in its arms it’s pain, it’s relief, it’s bruised hearts and broken souls, crying out for salvation in the darkness of the night. Where Animal Collective deconstructs rock in a way that is noisily domestic, Liars run naked and bleeding through the woods where the wild things are. Guitars wend their way through thickets of noise, and pounding drums are contrasted by the quiet of feedback and noise.
