Critiques CD: Yeasayer | Odd Blood

Yeasayer’s debut album, All Hour Cymbals, was apleasantly inoffensive fusion of Peter Gabriel-esque world pop and Animal Collective-style structures and vocals. For Odd Blood, Yeasayer take their fusion confusion one pop step further: combining the most radio-friendly elements of 80’s pop/new wave with ACisms and mild exotica. Granted, I never did like Split Enz, strained falsetto background vocals, or synth drum rolls much to begin with. It’ll probably be huge like H1N1 which makes me hate them and their earworms even more. I’m a naysayer this is lame even if it is infectious. Get inoculated! Beware the fl ocks of seagulls!
