This nutty project was conceived as a solo venture for Montreal musician Mike Wray, a cool way for the skinny dude to profess his love for his keyboard. Fast forward a few years and Mixylodian has metamorphosed into a full-on band, a hobo collective of boys and girls who dance, sing, and play instruments. Best described as mayhem pop, this full-length jumps around at an alarming rate – one minute it’s a straight up electro-dance grooves, the next rock muscles are flexed, and the next some Tropical vibes appear. Wray manages to hold it all together though; the result: a dense but thoroughly enjoyable listen.
