Here’s every Wu-Tang fan’s wet dream. Three legends of golden-era rap trading bars and going toe-to-toe on a conceptual album with artwork by comic book master Chris Bachalo is enough hype for a few seasons. Perhaps expectations were too high but this album falls short of being anything conceptual by Wu-Tang standards. The beats are alright at best and the rhymes as strong as usual but highlights are too few and far between to really deliver something that follows through on the Cuban Linx revival. Still enough gems on this for a good listen so don’t sleep.
