Mike Tessier: Mikey Mouse’s House shakes up the Disney establishment
Local character, dancer and entertainer Mike Tessier can now add tech head to his multi-faceted resume. This Friday, Tessier (under the name Dark Parts) will be presenting his latest video installment at the St-Gabriel Attic in collaboration with I Love Neon and High Food. The segment was shot at Studio Le Space last fall/winter and features a unique DIY approach to the dance music phenomenon.

After the screening and cocktails, a haunted house-themed party is set to unfold. Costume ideas? Anything cartoon, horror or gothic goes. A fixture in Montreal’s nightlife and techno/electro scenes since his arrival from Ottawa, “Mikey Mouse” hopes to recreate the intimate dance party experience that once thrived in the city’s underground, before all the ensuing hype and blog madness killed the magic and spontaneity of those happenings.

NIGHTLIFE: Favorite Disney character?

Mike Tessier: Donald Duck. He’s the most irate, angry, malicious cartoon character ever. Nobody takes abuse like him.

Best techno-electro track?
I don’t really have one. I’m really into heavy metal.

Dream dance partner?
Check out Disney’s “Skeleton Dance” from 1929.

Ultimate party costume?
An invisibility cloak would be pretty cool at a party, especially if you were dressed up as C3PO, an Indian or a policeman with leprosy upon reappearing – and you still weren’t recognizable.

Most memorable NEON night?
Neon Love – Tiga and Jesper Dahlback (2003), LCD Soundsystem (2005) and Soulwax (2006).
