Critiques CD: Janelle Monae | The Archandroid

Getting a serious co-sign from Outkast was enough for me to pay attention to this young singer. A first listen of this album proved for a cosmic travel through space and time. Although the album flows between different styles, sounds, and genres, it maintains a cohesive nature as the tracks smoothly interweave. The narrative of a messianic android living in the future was a very bold move that could have backfired but instead, it delivers a high-calibre setting and storytelling that meets halfway between Shaft and Star Wars. Can you dig it?
