FOFA’s latest exhibits: refining the past in ceramics

For those of you unfamiliar with the FOFA, that’s short for Concordia University‘s Faculty of Fine Arts gallery. Housed on campus, the gallery provides grounds for the university’s fine arts students to showcase their work and garner some attention.

A hidden gem in the sea of Montreal’s galleries, the exhibits change monthly and there is no  shortage of talent for the public to ogle. July 12th marks the opening of two new exhibits: Shelley Miller‘s Refining History and Krystel MaroisLe Vide. Refining History features large-scale photographic prints of "The Wealth of Some and the Ruin of Others", a ceramic tile installation; "Historia Azulejado", cast sugar sculptures and the multimedia installation "Cargo", a piece that allows viewers to overlay photos of the sugar tile mural with image tiles in varying states of decay.

In Le Vide, Krystal Marois expands on her work in portraiture and delves into physical and personal terrains. The vernissage for both exhibits will take place on Thursday, July 15th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
