The corner of Bollyhood and Soul is where you’ll find Thunderball cooking up their deliciously smooth, spicy masala of heartfelt music. The DC artists hang their sitars and samplers on a funky melange of bhangra, beats and revolutionary ‘60s soul à la Sly & the Family Stone (it’s refreshingly patchouli-free, even with all the Indian influences). While some songs are purely American soul food, others modify the recipe, adding ingredients from Jamaica and beyond – the Latin two-step of “Rio Mescalito” stands out both in style and substance. Thunderball retain a consistently high quality throughout their elevated sound cloud. November 6th at Le National.
