Critiques CD: Balago | Extractes D’un Diari

True to the theme proposed by the album’s title, Balago offer up a collection of emotional and poetic impressions of intimate moments that are like short sonic snapshots or brief journal entries. The average length of these little moments is about two minutes, yet each offers a glimpse into a world described by a slightly worn soundtrack where electronic harpsichords and pianos weave melodies atop crackle and hiss and lightly damaged ambient electronica. Yet, intimate as this sounds, and pretty as it is, unlike a diary it reveals little personal in any realm – which is slightly disappointing.
