Moonface: Wolf Parade/Sunset Rubdown member graces indie music fans with yet another side project
Natasha YoungSpencer Krug is a man of many monikers – you most likely know him from Wolf Parade, which recently announced its possibly-permanent hiatus, or from Sunset Rubdown, whose most recent album, 2009’s Dragonslayer, was critically well received, if not underrated.
Krug released an experimental solo EP in early 2010, this time as Moonface, succinctly titled Dreamland EP: Marimba and Shit-Drums, with 20 minutes of dreamscape in the form of one continuous song. In a letter published on label Jagjaguwar’s website, Spencer calls the follow-up debuting August 2nd, Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped, an album of “half-pop songs” played on an old double-manual organ, culled down to 5 tracks yet running 37 minutes long.
