Montreal transplant – via Toronto – Airick/Eric Woodhead drops an audio bomb blast on this short six-track debut EP, encapsulating the beauty cum madness of today’s fleeting youth, a smorgasbord of sounds (real and fabricated), styles (electro meets punk meets pop) and speeds (from slow jams to roller coaster highways) rolled into a frenetic mass of competing interests. Having gained notoriety as leader of kooky pop teen outfit Spiral Beach, alone Woodhead chops and pops live instrumentation with sample-heavy accompaniments, deep bruising percussions and electronic deconstructions, while his falsetto voice floats high above the mass bemoaning and/or championing today’s cultural and social abyss.
