Critiques CD: Grimes | Visions

In a mere two years young Claire Boucher a.k.a. Grimes has rocketed to international acclaim and with the release of her fourth record, her jets show no sign of sputtering out. Finding herself now attached to the near-legendary 4AD in the U.S. and Europe, Boucher has managed to keep her outsider-pop status intact, hers a take on electronic pop music informed by a DIY punk approach to all facets of her musical vision – essentially a what you see is what you get approach. While much of the grime of her earlier tuneage has been polished, at its heart an experimental center exists, combining facets of a dancefloor drive, soaring keyboards, and a multitude of swirling fairy-like voices captaining the ship.
