Critiques CD: The Men | New Moon

Record four from this NYC bonzo band holds something new and something true for those lucky enough to peel away the fuzz and listen inside. Never satisfied to rest on what creatively came before, The Men use New Moon as a launching pad into new sound territories heavily influenced by the cowboy hat and twang crowd, giving time to a leaner, quieter side highlighted by acoustic strumming, tickled piano, shit-kicker mandolin and harmonica and gooey four-part vocal harmonics. Fear not fickle friends, The Men do get loud and buzzy, polishing off their six-strings and turning up their amps, ultimately laying before our ears a seamless blend of country-dipped pop, punk, and rock.
