Andy Samberg is crowned Comedy Person of the Year at Just for Laughs

How do you think you did this year, comedy-wise? Got a few guffaws at work? Had them laughing at the bar? Made cousin Gita pee her Spanx at your sister’s wedding? Well, no matter how great you did, I bet Andy Samberg did a little better. How do I know? Seems the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor, comedian and writer has just won this year’s Just For Laughs Comedy Person of the Year. So yeah – the title kinda gives him an edge on you. But if we were to be honest, it’s the *trophy, scepter, and 27 acres of arable land in the Laurentians that really pushes things past the point of “why bother trying?”
 
(*I actually don’t know what comes with the title, but I think a scepter would be super cool.)

5. Andy Samberg as Nicolas Cage in Get In The Cage
 
“Don’t sass me, Hat!” When Andy as Nicolas takes on any actor, it is funny, but when he takes on Jude Law, it is just plain odd. And funny! But odd.
 
4. Creep (ft. Nicki Minaj & John Waters)

  
“Now pull your waistband up like you expectin' a flood/ And slick your hair down flat like it was covered in mud/ Trim up your pencil mustache and pop them peepers/ Put this in your speakers; you a certified creeper!” Andy gets down to T-Rexin’ with his Lonely Island crew in this ode to all things freaky and creepy.
 
3. Dick in a Box (ft. Justin Timberlake)

 
The song was created when Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michaels asked Samberg to write a track showcasing Timberlake's singing abilities. Well, it certainly showcased something. Big ups here to Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig who play the balladeers’ straight-faced luvahs.
 
 
2. Motherlover (ft. Justin Timberlake)

 
“Cause every Mothers Day needs a Mothers Night.” Apparently, this SNL Digital Short was written, recorded, shot and edited in such a rush that it only just made it to air on time. This either demonstrates Samberg’s extreme brilliance under pressure, or gives us a glimpse of the horseshoe that is securely lodged in his cute, Sambergian behind.
 
1. Ras Trent

“Are you there Jah? It’s me, Ras Trent.” Oh, so well done. The white boy dreads alone deserve an award.
