L’exposition Figures par Picasso s’en vient au Musée national des Beaux-Arts du Québec!

C’est hier, en exclusivité, que Radio-Canada dévoilait la prochaine grosse exposition du MNBAQ (Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec): Figures, par Pablo Picasso.

En effet, il sera possible d’aller admirer pour la toute première fois plusieurs des oeuvres marquantes de la carrière de cet artiste iconique du monde de l’art moderne, fondateur du cubisme et bien connu pour ses toiles déjantées et surréalistes, au MNBAQ, à partir du 1er juin 2021.

La collection Figures s’arrêtera tout d’abord à Nashville (États-Unis) en février 2021, avant de s’arrêter à Québec pour une durée de trois mois.

Woman Playing with a Dog, 1953 • Picasso pushed his challenge to the traditional system, not only in the forms of art but also in its economy, its operation, its aesthetic. No one can overstate Picasso's efforts on this aspect. • The painting is a work that is explicitly "in movement". But this movement is not so much expressed as stated in the compensated imbalance of two static forms. The impression the image viewer perceived is more like a snapshot or an impression of concealed movement. In fact, this static quality seems to be an indispensable factor in the coherence of the system. Once it has rejected in to the tricks of the image, it is hard for us to see why Cubism should have retained the illusion of movement after depicting the illusion of depth: each constitutes a different aspect of the illusion of reality. Avec pour seule confirmation de la venue de l’exposition une annonce sur le site officiel de la Succession Picasso, la date de mise en vente des billets reste à déterminer.

Nous sommes toutefois impatient.e.s d’aller admirer les oeuvres de l’artiste espagnol, parmi les quelques 50 000 pièces réalisées au cours de sa vie — dont 1885 tableaux, 1228 sculptures, 2880 céramiques, 7089 dessins, 342 tapisseries, 150 carnets de croquis et 30 000 étampes (gravures, lithographies, etc).
