Andalusyria réunit deux artistes talentueux qui ont créé un répertoire original au carrefour des traditions flamenco et arabes. Nazih Borish, musicien établi à Montréal, est un virtuose autodidacte du oud qui a fondé sa propre école de musique dans sa ville natale, Lattakia en Syrie; Gabriel Evangelista, montréalais d’origine espagnole, est un pianiste de flamenco-jazz. Tous deux ont développé leur propre langage musical au fil de leur carrière et s’investissent dans cette rencontre artistique qui lie leurs horizons culturels et personnels. Le résultat: une grande poésie construite sur des envolées de notes improvisées, uniques d’une représentation à l’autre. Andalusyria brings together two talented artists who have created an original repertoire at the crossroads of flamenco and Arab traditions. Nazih Borish, based in Montreal, is a self-taught oud virtuoso that founded his own school in his hometown of Lattakia, Syria. Gabriel Evangelista, a Montrealer of Spanish origin, is a flamenco-jazz pianist. Both have developed their own musical language over the course of their careers, and are committed to this artistic encounter between flamenco, jazz and Syrian music, combining their cultural and personal horizons. The result: musical poetry built on soaring improvised lines that are unique from one concert to another.
