Critiques CD: Gonjasufi | A Sufi and a Killer

This is one freaky, furry album. Gonjasufi (aka Sumach) wails, moans and sings over 19 short, patchouli laden, mind blowing songs produced by Gaslamp Killer. Opening The Doors to another dimension, Gonjasufi’s tracksrange from folky psychedelic 60s flavoured electronic weirdness through to the awesome Stoogish rock of “Suzieq” to the exotic acid melting pot of “Kowboyz and Indians”. The rickety soulful heroine jazz of “Change” floats into atmospheric “Dust”. A Sufi And A Killer trips out on reggae, dub, rock, jazz, techno, and Hindi and Sufi chants and rhythms, making for a dense and intense journey into sound and history.
