Arab on Radar: if I had a jihad

Providence, Rhode Island’s Arab on Radar were a day late and a dollar short. Formed in 1994 and fizzling out eight years later, the band missed the boat on their hometown’s underground explosion – have a look at things like Load Records, Lighting Bolt and Black Dice – on top of a world-wide love affair for all sounds noisy, skuzzy and loud that the youth later embraced. In those pre-Internet days, AOR unleashed a lean and mean twin guitar aural assault over bass-heavy distortion and fractured poundings, while delivering onstage like their lives depended on it.

While members went on to form other bands of note (The Chinese Stars, Athletic Automaton and Made in Mexico), the urge to reform for a new generation of fans who actually give a shit was too much. Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for Arab on Radar.
