Critiques CD: Greie Gut Fraktion | Stadt Mixe EP

A loose cover of the 80’s track “Wir bauen eine neue Stadt” (“We’re Building a New City”) by Palais Schaumberg, this deep, dark track is constructed of sounds and noises created by power tools, instruments, voices and some master knob twiddling. Antye Geie (a.k.a. AGF) and Gudrun Gut, who were part of Einsturzende Neubauten’s original lineup, have created a slab of brilliant techno that perfectly blends modern and industrial 80’s Berlin in a dirty, gritty authentic way. Alva Noto and Wolfgang Voigt remix, making this a bit like a German techno super group.
