The Radio Dept.: Chock Full of Scandinavian Cool
One wonders if Super Swede Johan Duncanson thought his band The Radio Dept. would still be putting on the ritz fifteen years after he started the group as a teenager. Three albums and over a dozen EPs and singles later, he must be doing something right to still be involved in the game.

While Duncanson remains the sole constant in the group’s membership, the various players have been able to use his cool croon and knack for sweet, icy pop as platforms for free and pleasurable expression, creating a near perfect balance between the electricity of electronic music and the organic buzz of live instrumentation.

The Radio Dept. find themselves among a stable of Swedish elite pop practitioners (think Acid House Kings, Loney Dear, Club 8), almost had the big break in 2003 with their debut Lesser Matters, and continue to aim for the stars with last year’s excellent Clinging to a Scheme as well as a brand new compilation, Passive Agressive: Singles 2002-2010.
