The Barr Brothers reveal five Montreal spots where they feel right at home

If you don’t know who The Barr Brothers are, shame on you! The folk group is on everyone’s lips these days whenever the topic of music made in Montreal comes up. They are currently touring their (excellent) self-titled album and will be performing at the Metropolis on July 1st, so hurry up if you don’t have tickets yet!

NIGHTLIFE.CA asked Andrew Barr, Brad Barr, Sarah Page and Andres Vial to give us the lowdown on five places where they feel right at home in Montreal, their «adopted city».

TA 4520 Parc Avenue
The Tourtière Australienne on Parc, north of Mount Royal…Lots of delicious pies to choose from, vegetarian and meat laden. Cheap, filling, bang on!

Casa del Popolo |4873 Saint-Laurent blvd
Lovable staff, cozy patio, affordable drinks, consistently good music, great company, especially on week nights….It’s an obvious choice, but why deny the obvious?

Softball at Parc Jeanne-Mance
You don't even have to be playing, just show up with a couple cans of beer and enjoy the mix of talent and tom-foolery. Always a conversation to be had, especially if Claude is in the bleachers. You may be asked to sub.

Souvenirs D'Indochine Restaurant | 243 Mont-Royal W. Ave.
Some of the best Vietnamese food on this side of Montreal. Ha, the head chef, is a warm and gracious person. I recommend the papaya salad with beef, and the fried dumplings/gyoza.

Sarah's House
She just moved in.  It’s in the Mile End, that's all I can say. She has a great living room where her harp stands, and we've been playing music there often.
