Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival: experience comedy, the old fashioned way!

Nowadays, most up and coming comedians chase an online audience first and foremost. So while performing in an alcohol fuelled venue might appear to be anachronistic, it is still a necessary step on their path to success. In order to encourage the young to embrace the old ways, the Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival will set up shop at Theatre Ste-Catherine for an entire week with some of the best comedy troupes in America.

For their fourth edition, the organizers have gathered over 20 troupes eager to make you break glass with laughter. The week kicks off with local nutcases Kick the Pricks, an ensemble that will present both sketches and stand-up bits. The trio The Lusty Mannequins will dig out the absurdities buried deep down and exorcise them under sketch form, while Chicago’s Unrelated will relate the tribulations of an estranged father and son. Award-winning the Sixth Borough will transport their online lampoon on stage and prove to the audience that Philadelphia can be funny despite what Tom Hanks implied. Finally on Sunday night be ready for a surprise, as All-Star Improv takes the stage to show you how spontaneity and comedy go hand in hand.

Want more than low-res comedic sketch? Just attend the festival for a chance to witness promising talents in glorious 3D.
