The voice may be familiar, but not what’s inside. The throat you may recognize belongs to Swedish heart-throb José Gonzàlez, the folky auteur of a couple of very well-received spare solo discs – think a man and his guitar and you are on target. Junip is a band he formed with fellow Swedes Elias Araya (drums) and Tobias Winterkorn (organ, synth) back in 2005, but whose output is a mere lonely EP from that time. This full-length debut intertwines Gonzàlez’s intricate electric and acoustic six-string with driving beats and tasty keys. The result is electronic folk-pop on overdrive. November 4th at Belmont.
